For the love of all…

This is a rant… It is not coherent and have been edited to take out the most rabid parts as they served no purpose other than me venting with foam at the corners of my mouth..

So I really hate it when people tell me what is and is not right based on their personal beliefs and hold them up as absolute truths… So now I am going to tell you what is right or wrong based on my personal beliefs and hold them up as absolute truths….

Ok that was perhaps pushing it a bit far for the sake of making the point clear, but I just like to point out that I am well aware of how silly it is to condemn someone’s way of viewing the world just because it does not meet my own. You see I do not think that there are any people who are inherently evil, there are people who do evil things or push suffering upon others but I do not believe that they wake up each morning, twirling their moustache and scheme how to make the rest of the world a worse place. In fact most of them I am sure have the utter most intention to make the world a better place. They just go about it a very ass backwards way. Now that is not the same as me giving them a free reign or wave them off as “silly evil people”. But I just want to explain the background to why I make the next statement.
I do not think people who try to restrict how others love are evil.
I just think the way they look at the world is completely batshit, off the wall fucked up beyond a point where it is dignified with a sane and reasonable. You would think that in a society where borders are moving and we are slowly but surely growing out of our shoes people loving each other would be a good thing. I personally think my point of view will be the one that wins in the end and what we know today as hetero, homo, bi, mono and poly will dissolve. Why… Well for one I hope that we will be going back to a community where more focus is put on family no matter how said family is constituted and that people can let go of the fear that stigmatizes so much of how we look at love and sex. We are no longer in a position where we need to regulate and formalize reproduction in order to save the population. We have other motivators for that now that are way more efficient. Now fear is difficult to get rid of, I sure know and I also know that I am a very small insignificant person but it literally drives me crazy because it is the anti-thesis of logic behavior. At least that is how I feel about it. Now I don´t care if, and this is my very personal opinion and I do not demand that you should agree with me but be aware that disagreeing will color our future interactions.
If you think you have some reason to judge or disapprove how humans love each other, how people of their free will shape their family or who they call their loved ones YOU ARE WRONG. You are wrong and you pretty much fail as a human being. I dare you to present a compelling argument… Or even a argument to begin with. But let me preempt a few…

My faith says: Yeah I am pretty sure your faith says a lot of stuff that is not applicable to a modern society.
My political stance says: Really… If above did not win any ground this is even more stupid.
My grandma/grandpa/parents said: I am sure they did… So why be as narrow-minded as they are.
I am afraid: Well I can understand that. But fear is to be conquered.
I do not want to (insert object in to orifice): I am not saying you should go on a fuck-a-ton around the world and bed one of each gender and nationality in a weird recreation of the Arc.  Just that you ask you self... Why do I feel this is wrong?

So while I cannot stop you from feeling discomfort at the idea of anything outside of “man+wife+2.5 kids, missionary three times a week and from the behind on Saturdays.” I am pretty sure you felt some discomfort or confusion the first time you had sex too… and that turned out pretty good in the end too now did it not. So the next time you see something that seems unusual to you or maybe even strange, as long as nobody is hurting someone else (without their consent, pain after all is pleasure if done right.) just nod your head and think to yourself… If is Wednesday.

Agree or disagree I welcome anyone who can put forward a logic reason why restrictions on love between consenting people… I care not for people who try to explain why there are such restrictions today… I have a fairly good idea of that.

Midsummer you say…. I´l drink to that.

Few traditional celebrations are so wrapped up in mystery and misconceptions as the Swedish midsummer celebrations, and while it is most definitely a pre-Christian ritual it has by now turned in to something that is as close to holy as we have. From the traditional feast (and I do mean traditional, it is the same for every celebration, be it Easter, Christmas or… well… anyone.) to the dancing and obligatory consumption of flavored spirits. Oh and let´s not forget the maypole, that big leafy and somewhat dick shaped thing we show in to the earth. Now if we did that back in late april early may the whole “impregnating the earth” thing would make more sense, but hey if it get people to love each other, and make love to each other with a bit more passion on this very day people can believe whatever they want. I am a strong advocate for love, no matter what shape or form it comes in as long as it is consensual. Now since it is a celebration and I live here in Sweden we all know what comes next… .. . People, I am not going to tell you not to drink. That is up to you and I trust you are an adult capable of making your own decisions. But what I do ask is that you take a few minutes to reflect on how your future actions might affect others and what your intentions are. Because even if you have no problem with people being drunk of their face and breaking every social code our society ever invented others might now. So adapt your alcohol consumption to your company… Or if that cannot be achieved, you company to your consumption.
Any way beyond that I really enjoy midsummer as it have this very free spirit and is not burdened with the stigma of death and angst that most other celebrations we have are. It is just life, pure and simple. Now I have of course the singular luck of coming from a well-adjusted home and thus have no real traumas connected to midsummer but I know that not everyone is as lucky. But if you stand barefoot on a patch of grass, with the warm summer evening slowly darkening and just take a few deep breaths it is not hard to understand why this day is by many considered to be just a little bit magical.

So enjoy your herring and your potatoes, strawberries and cream and for the heck of it enjoy your drink too. Simply… Enjoy.

This is Tomas and that was all for this time.

A Link to the dynasties and the horror of an old god.

I sometimes wonder if I am the only one who do not give a flying fuck about Hyrule Warriors…? The media sure seems to like it and some of my online friends talk about it like it is the second coming of Christ, but I just cannot get the old blood pumping. Maybe this is because I never cared much for the dynasty warrior’s series. They are good for a short burst of omgwtfbbqfordfocus of plowing through massive amounts of minions but it fails to capture me in a long run. Painting a Zelda skin on to it does not really help either as the only thing that does is to remind me of a much better game I could be playing. Not that is not to say it is without merits, it looks stunning and each character is detailed and has a nice variety of attacks from the looks of it. But still I rather hold out for a real Zelda game.

Now something that actually has my blood pumping is the new Eldritch Horror from FF games, yes this is a board game in the same vein as Arkham Horrors for reworked and in my mind vastly improved. Of course I am not Arkham Horrors expert or aficionado but I have played it a few times and found it to be fairly slow and clunky and from what people tell me the expansions can if not used correct utterly break it. So Eldritch Horrors move you out of the city and in to the world as your group of investigators cross the globe to stop the usually very messy invasion from an elder god. As I am not that particularly familiar with the Arkham games (Horror that is, not Asylum…) I did not catch all the things that were different but it is shorter and a tad bit less stuff to keep track of. An average play session should take about four hours and should offer up a decent challenge for up to 8 players. We were four and it did at times become a tad bit hectic getting from one place to another. But at no time did we feel absolute hopelessness. Each elder god now have their own deck so all the events in game are pretty much tailored to that particular god, we had a asshat by the name of Azathoth whom when he is summoned pretty much ends the world, no if and buts. So we had a very sharp timer because unlike some lesser asshats there is no chance to stop him once he summoned… the game simply ends. Now our small band of paranormal investigators to the slow start of just faffing about foing non-critical stuff such as our astronomer taking some time off to go read strange old books in the library of the Miskatonic University. It went about as well as expected. Unlike the old games there is no real problem with letting the doom counter rise, in the old games things started to get boarded up and people simply ran away. So we keep our heads down and tugged away at closing portals and scoring phat loot…. As one tend to do. With the world halfway to absolute oblivion T pointed out that we perhaps should start trying to solve the actual missions before the entire world went to hell. Now my character by this time had a nice little assortment of spells, was paranoid and had hallucinations. He also for some odd reason was stuck in Buenos Aires. But seeing as he had the spell to teleport other characters anywhere on the globe (for the tiny price of going insane at best) that did not bother him… Although I sort of have to ask why someone who twice have been caught in police stings would actually still try to buy stolen goods… But hey that is random event cards for you.
Now time was catching up to us and we thought everything was up, but with some quick thinking we realized that given that the doom counter did not get pushed ahead we could actually save the world with one turn to spare. It was a nail biter down to the finish and R who had some problem with clue in Helsinki at the start of the game got some sweet redemption by securing our last needed clue with a successful roll on a clue in Helsinki. All in all much jubilation was had and some spiteful remarks were made towards the game for its inability to kick our arses. We all made it out alive… Apart from T whom got sucked in to the void as part of a dark pact made earlier. But at least we saved the world.

So I would have to say we had a fun time and the game felt a lot faster than the old Arkham game. I would absolutely recommend this for others who like a bit of tactical co-op gameplay and the potential of being eaten by a elder god.
